How to Learn Spanish

As with learning any language, to learn Spanish requires a certain amount of commitment - in terms of time, patience and a good amount of enthusiasm. Aside from basic lessons, whether online or in a classroom, the old adage, practice makes perfect, is the key ingredient to success.

Obviously, the best and fastest way to learn Spanish would be to spend some time in a Spanish-speaking country, where you have no choice but to speak, listen, eat and breathe Spanish. For instance, you could learn Spanish in Spain and really get to the cultural and linguistic source of the language.

Listed below are six ways to learn Spanish and if you apply yourself to one or more of these methods you will be speaking, writing and thinking the Spanish language in no time.

1. Take Spanish Lessons
Sign up for a proper class at your local university, an adult education centre or at a language school. If the thought of returning to a classroom setting seems daunting or unsuitable for your schedule, check out the many places online or invest in some tapes or videos.

Whether you are a complete beginner or just wanting to brush up on your school Spanish, committing to some form of educational tool / process will kick start your journey to becoming proficient in the language.

2. Read Spanish
Reading Spanish can be a lot easier for beginners who are still unfamiliar with the confusing quick-flow of words in the spoken language. Reading Spanish newspapers online, the latest copy of Spanish magazines or even a children's book - then listing down the words you don't understand - makes good homework, and will probably give you some personal satisfaction too.

3. Write in Spanish
The internet has many areas to do this, through forums, message boards, chat rooms and so on. Practice on your own as well (less embarrassing for beginners), or find a penpal to correspond with.

4. Listen to Spanish
Listening to the Spanish language as much as you can is of utmost importance if you want to get your accent right (and not sound like a tourist). Listen to audio language tapes and Spanish music and radio while driving, and stop at the Spanish cable channel and listen awhile.

5. Watch Spanish
If you've ever been to Spain or watched a Spanish film, you'll discover that the Spanish language is not merely about the spoken word, but involves a varying amount of gestures, physical movement and facial expressions.

6. Think Spanish
Try and "think Spanish" as you go about your day, translate the thoughts in your head, count things in Spanish and write your memo list in Spanish.

The Cost Of Online Degrees – Are They Worth It?

There is a lot of controversy regarding the cost of online degrees. There are many that are very cheap and these tend to be very suspicious especially if they are offered by accredited universities. Online education is not necessarily cheap especially if you get it from a reputed university. As a matter of fact, the total tuition you'll pay for an online degree is exactly the same as what you'd pay at a college where you have to attend classes in person. However the total cost of online degrees is usually less than a regular education due to a few other reasons.

A person getting an online education does not have to spend money on room and board while getting this education. Students tend to stay in colleges away from the city where they come from and they have to pay tens of thousands of dollars for the duration of their studies which is usually more than four years. In addition, they have to pay incidental expenses as well.

The other advantage that online learning offers you is that you only need to pay for the courses you attend. This saves you a great deal of money and also allows you schedule your education around your work or personal commitments better. Regular students, on the other hand, have to pay for the entire course even if they don’t complete the required credits within four years.

Most working people find that the cost of online degrees is very little compared to their increased earning capacity. Besides, they can keep on earning while they are studying and this helps to mitigate much of the expense of getting higher education. On the whole, there are many advantages to getting an online education and this is why plenty of people are opting for it.
